Navigating the Pacific Northwest
To fulfill OMSI's wildest dreams for creating an immersive interactive journey into the history of the Pacific Northwest, our design and development team had to pull out all of the stops. In order to run locally and in a sandbox, we utilized Adobe (then Macromedia) Flash and leveraged stunning graphics from the design team, smooth video from our video producers, unique sound clips and audio, and hard-earned educational content. With these, the technical team, of which I was a part of, delved into ActionScript and brought to life the concept of Navigating the Northwest.
Utilizing open source resources for things like page flipping and tweening, the project was delivered on-time, in a development cycle of just over a two months. We were even able to include an easter egg for those vigilant enough to discover it.
